How to Use Technology to Become a Better Version of Yourself
Reclaim your focus. Recharge your soul. Technology should serve your life—not consume it.
Introduction
Your phone is one of the most powerful tools you'll ever own.
It can distract you from your dreams...or help you build them.
It can drain your energy...or recharge your soul.
Every day, we spend hours glued to our screens.
Some of us leave feeling inspired. Others leave feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and wondering where the day went.
So maybe the problem isn't technology. Maybe it's how we've chosen to use it.
Technology isn't good or bad. It's a tool.
And like every tool, it becomes whatever the hands holding it decide to make of it.
So instead of asking,
"How do I spend less time on my phone?"
Maybe we should start asking,
"How do I use technology to become a better version of myself?"
Let's talk about it.
This blog is a wake up call to Reclaim your focus, and Recharge your soul. Technology should serve your life—not consume it.
I know a lot of us are aware that we can use social media our phones or mobile gadgets in ways that would benefit us, instead of just scrolling aimlessly wasting hours and hours online without being productive.
So here are ways to use technology to our advantage....
Recharge your soul with what you watch...
Every day, we open YouTube to watch videos, scroll endlessly on TikTok, catch up on Instagram, browse Pinterest for inspiration, or relax with a movie on Netflix.
Whatever we spend our time watching eventually shapes the way we think, our thoughts and what enters our mind. What we watch be it good or bad tends to stick to our minds consciously and unconsciously. And whether we like it or not it somehow starts to shape the kind of person we're becoming.
Challenge: This week, unfollow one account that drains you and subscribe to one channel that teaches you something valuable.
Recharge your soul with what you listen to...
We have tools like: podcasts.
Audiobooks. Worship. Motivational speeches. Silence.
What we listen to and who we listen to matters a lot. There are lots of speakers, teachers, singers, and writers, our sole duty is to filter who we want to listen to and why we want to listen to them.
Recharge your soul with what you read...
There are: Discuss ebooks. Articles. Blogs. Kindle. Newsletters.
Reading stretches your thinking and what you decide to read determines how far you think.
I still remember when I started replacing thirty minutes of mindless scrolling with thirty minutes of reading every day. At first, it didn't feel like much. But after a few months, I noticed something had changed. I started thinking differently. Speaking differently. Dreaming bigger.
The books weren't just filling my head. They were reshaping the way I saw myself.
Don't settle for just reading romance novels or Gangstar love stories, or fairy tales and fiction play. There's nothing wrong with reading for entertainment. But don't let entertainment be the only thing you feed your mind. Make room for books that challenge your thinking, strengthen your character, and inspire your growth.
Download one ebook today and read just ten pages.
Recharge your soul with what you learn...
One of the greatest gifts technology has given us is access to knowledge.
Today, you can learn almost anything without stepping into a classroom.
Want to understand personal finance?
Learn AI?
Start a business?
Study a new language?
It's all within reach. Every course you complete...Every tutorial you watch...Every new skill you develop...is an investment in the future version of yourself.
This section is going to hit hard.
Your feed is literally your digital environment. So what you feed it is what it gives. Your feed is a room.
Every person you follow gets a chair. Every day they speak into your life. Some talk about gossip. Some talk about luxury. Some talk about healing. Some teach business. Some remind you to pray.
Now ask yourself:
If everyone you follow sat around one table...
Would that conversation make you wiser...or make you anxious?
If your feed is full of drama...yea you know what that means. If it's full of comparison, gossip, fake life that's what you start to manifest.
But if your feed is filled with wisdom, discipline, books, inspirations, DIY, God, business, health, ambition...your life begins changing without you even noticing.
One of my favourite sections.
We consume thousands of pieces of content every month on different social apps and sites...but how much do we create?
So start creating something no matter how little. Write. Design. Film. Journal. Start a blog. Create Pinterest pins. Launch the business.
Technology is one of the greatest creation tools ever invented. And who knows? If you stay consistent and continue improving your craft, what starts as a hobby today could become an income stream tomorrow.
Instead of consuming for one hour today, spend thirty minutes creating something.
Recharge your soul with what you pray through...
There are beautiful places to introduce faith, strengthen your faith, and also build your faith.
Technology shouldn't replace your quiet time with God—but it can support it.
A Bible app can keep Scripture close.
A worship playlist can shift your atmosphere.
A devotional can remind you of God's promises.
Even a simple reminder on your phone can become an invitation to pause and pray.
Turn off notifications. Walk outside. Pray. Watch the sunset. Have dinner without your phone.
Because technology should enhance real life—not replace it.
So don't let your use of technology make you forget that you have an actual life to live.
Conclusion
One day, you'll look back and realize...it wasn't one big decision that changed your life.
It was thousands of tiny ones.
Choosing one inspiring video instead of endless scrolling.
Reading one chapter instead of another hour of gossip.
Listening to one podcast instead of negative noise.
Creating instead of comparing.
Praying instead of panicking.
Logging off instead of burning out.
Little by little...those small choices became new habits.
Those habits shaped your mindset.
Your mindset shaped your character.
And your character shaped your future.
Technology will always be here.
The question is whether you'll allow it to distract you from the woman you're becoming...or become one of the tools that helps you build her.
Choose intentionally. Your attention is sacred.
Guard it.
Feed it with things that nourish your mind, strengthen your faith, and move you closer to the woman you're becoming.
Protect it from things that make you smaller.
And let every click, every follow, every search, and every hour online move you one step closer to the life God has called you to live.
Because technology should never consume your life.It should help you create one worth living.
